The Joy of an Ordinary Day

My firend Holly send me this You-Tube video about how thankful parents should be for the ordinary days we have with our children.  I really liked this video because there was no tragedy about it – the author wrote a book about this and was reading it to a book club.  It was from her perspective as a mother of sons who had grown up and left for college.

After I watched this, my son was up in the middle of the night with stomach pains.  All I could think of was that I was so glad that he still needed me – he is still young enough to want his Mom to help in the middle of the night when he isn’t feeling well.     With all that we pack into a day sometimes it is easy to forget what a blessing every ordinary day with our kids really is!  The photographer in me connected with something she said about the only photographs she wanted were the ones she didn’t have, of the ordinary times.  I always love to photograph children in the moment while they are having fun and her words just reaffirmed for me how important this really is.  Enjoy your ordinary days.  Happy Thursday!
